Mark Fairchilds

Mark Fairchilds, a well-rounded USPTA pro, has excelled both on and off the court in his long tennis career.

This P-1 is an elected member of the USPTA national Board of Directors and serves as vice president.

Mark was the 1993 USPTA national Player of the Year. On the divisional level, he served as president for Northern California from 1998 to 1999 and was the Northern California Division Pro of the Year.

Mark also is active in the USTA. He is a three-time Men’s Open Player of the Year for the Nor Cal Section. He also served on the Nor Cal Section board of directors from 1992 to 1995 and was the 1992 Wilson Nor Cal Pro of the Year.

Mark played on the pro tour from 1985 to 1987, receiving a world ranking in both singles and doubles. He also has won six gold balls and five USPTA national championships.

This USPTA pro is now employed as director of tennis at Modesto Fitness & Racquet Club in Modesto, Calif.

He worked at Seascape Sports Club in Aptos, Calif., from 1990 to 1991 and at Marina Yacht & Tennis Club in Stockton, Calif., from 1987 to 1990.

Mark says he became a tennis pro in 1987 “because I just love teaching the game of tennis.”

“The thing I enjoy most about my profession is watching my students grow as much off the court as well as on,” he says. “My areas of expertise include the net game, doubles and mental toughness.

“My greatest accomplishment is being able to create national champions from an early age and have students succeed in the game of tennis, overcoming handicaps,” he says. “My greatest accomplishment in life is having a great wife, Jill, and family, and truly enjoying what I do.”

Mark earned a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of the Pacific in 1985.
